Bridgestone Launches Winter Tire for Heavy-Duty Pickup Trucks and SUVs

Bridgestone Blizzak LT tire delivers winter performance and handling with long-lasting wear life

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (February 20, 2018)Bridgestone Americas, Inc. (Bridgestone) today announced the expansion of its premium winter tire line with the release of the Bridgestone Blizzak LT tire for heavy-duty pickup trucks and SUVs. The new Blizzak LT tire is engineered to provide hardworking drivers improved handling and control** in the toughest winter weather, ranging from wet to snowy and icy conditions. The tire features a new rubber compound that provides extended wear life, giving drivers of light truck vehicles an extra season of winter performance.*

“The Bridgestone Blizzak LT tire is the next-generation in winter performance for heavy-duty pickup trucks and SUVs,” said Erik Seidel, president, consumer replacement tire sales, U.S. and Canada, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations. “Light truck customers are demanding a dedicated winter tire that allows them to easily navigate the nastiest winter conditions season after season, and the Blizzak LT tire delivers.”

The Blizzak LT tire features an all-new tread pattern designed with 30 percent more biting edges for enhanced snow traction and more water evacuation** channels to help reduce the risk of hydroplaning. With sizes to fit 93 percent of light trucks on the road today, the Blizzak LT tire combines toughness and comfort to give drivers a smooth ride on the highway, without sacrificing the edge needed to take on the worst of winter weather.

The Bridgestone Blizzak LT tire will be manufactured in North America at the company’s passenger and light truck tire manufacturing facility in Joliette, Quebec. Available in 11 sizes, the Blizzak LT tire will start shipping to dealers in July 2018.

*Assuming that the snow season is approximately from mid-October to mid-April (6 months for very cold regions) and that an average user would drive approximately 1,200 miles per month, the Bridgestone Blizzak LT tire would last through an extra winter season vs. the Bridgestone Blizzak W965 tire.
